The human body is made to move. I imagine there is no limit to the movements and movement combinations the body can make. Well, no limit to the ways a living body can move. Dead ones don't tend to move too often, though it can happen! And, when dead bodies do spontaneously move, the movements of the bodies present to witness it do display some amazing movement combinations.

Anyway, the body is designed to move. Movement itself, is the vehicle that shapes the brain and keeps the body healthy. Simply by engaging in cross-lateral movements like crawling and walking, and breathing (breathing is movement), we soothe our nervous system, we keep our brains efficient and we restore our bodies. We are actually designed to move into health. In a perfect world...

In a non perfect world, movement can tear the body down. It can stress the nervous system and over stress tissues. Ever hear of overuse injuries? Ever hear of anxiety? Moving in ways the body wasn't designed for can cause injuries to the nervous system, the mind, and the body.

If the body was made to move, in endless possible ways, how can any movement be a movement that the body wasn't designed to make? I don't think it can, in a perfect world.

In a perfect world, we would all move in and out of our gait pattern everyday. Walking would be the most powerful reset we could do, not crawling. We would all have a solid foundation of reflexive strength and control. We would be well tied together, our nervous systems would be reflexively "sharp" and efficient, and we would have minds of peaceful strength, with no mental anxieties.

But many of us don't live in a perfect world. In our world, many "walk" without PRESSING RESET. Many people sit, or stay idle for large amounts of time in a day. And, when people do move, or they do "exercise" they do so on a shaky foundation, or a foundation lacking reflexive control. This can lead to movement injuries, because the movements made were made on a faulty foundation, which means they were made through compensations. Our bodies will compensate our movements to cover up what we lack in our original strength. Ever see anyone limping when they walk? That is a movement compensation. Ever see anyone not able to touch their toes? That is also a movement compensation.

When people try to move in all the wonderful ways they want to without a solid foundation of reflexive strength and control, they are moving through compensations set in place because they are lacking something. It is not ideal to always be moving with compensations. They should only be temporary fixes put in place when the body is injured. They should not be permanent solutions.

For example, breathing up in the chest and neck should be reserved for emergencies. It is a Plan B, a compensation, to take in more air when the body is ready to go into a fight or it needs to take a flight. Breathing with these emergency muscles should not be a 24 hour, 7 days a week normal operating procedure.The body should use the diaphragm, it's foundation, Plan A, breathing solution for normal operating procedures.

The body is designed to move in infinite ways, but the body is also designed to PRESS RESET continually throughout the day. This keeps it renewed and it keeps it tied together by ensuring the movement foundation is solid and intact. Moving and living without the foundation, without the original strength the body is designed to have, is actually moving in a way the body wasn't designed for.

IF you were designed to always be resilient and strong, and you were, then to not be resilient and strong goes against your design. All movement should be good movement. Yes, we can take anything to an extreme. But in general, the natural movements you can make with your body should all be good for you to make. Especially if you are pressing reset when you move.

When it comes to movement and strength, be limitless. PRESS RESET with every breath you take and with every step you make. Sounds like a song doesn't it (If you are over 30, you may get that.....). Lay a solid foundation of reflexive strength and control by relearning and remembering the simple movements you were designed to make. In other words, make the world a perfect world and allow your body to express the strength it was made for.
