Another Way to Press RESET
Nov 21, 2023
Hello There!
Last week I made an attempt to clearly explain what Pressing RESET was, what it did to and for the body and why you want to do it. I mentioned that if you engaged in the Three Pillars of Human Movement, you were Pressing RESET on your body.
To review, those Three Pillars are:
- Breathe functionally with your diaphragm, filling your lungs up from the bottom to the top.
- Activate your vestibular system through exercising control over the movements of your eyes and head and moving your body often.
- Engaging in your gait pattern: crawling, walking, marching, skipping, running, etc.
If we are doing these three things, we are Pressing RESET and nourishing our bodies.
But it has occurred to me there is another way to Press RESET, a way that is a way and not a movement. To be honest, it is the timing of this week and a conversation with a good friend that has brought this to the forefront of my mind. As I write this, it is two days until Thanksgiving, that’s two days until here in the United States that many of us will practice the RESET of being thankful.
Yes, thankfulness is a way to Press RESET. I’ll do my best to explain how this works.
Thankfulness, giving thanks, is a response to a gift. Perhaps in a way, thankfulness is a movement because giving thanks is a response.
What is the gift, you may ask?
Life. Love.
Those are the gifts.
We have been given life from Love. It is our awareness of these gifts that enables us to respond to them with thanksgiving. Giving thanks is a response of love to Love, and it RESETs us.
When we are thankful, we are giving gratitude from our hearts. This in turn opens our hearts and allows us to experience the flow of love from our hearts. It also makes room in our hearts to receive more Love. When we are aware of the life and the love we have been given, we we are grateful for that life and love, we begin to notice and experience the life and love all around us. And we feel GOOD.
Feeling GOOD is a reset my friends. Experiencing love, reciprocating love (being thankful), warms and softens the heart. A warm, soft heart cannot contain the love and gratitude inside and it spills out into everyone and everything around it. And that feels GOOD.
When we feel GOOD, we feel safe. When we feel safe, the brakes come off of our bodies and our minds. We think more clearly and more positively. And we move more freely. And life just seems better.
You can test this if you want. Try to touch your toes or see how deep you can squat. Then think of something you are thankful for. Give thanks for it, respond to Love for it. Then, touch your toes or see how deep you can squat again. Notice how differently it feels to move with a thankful heart. You just RESET yourself with thankfulness.
Your ability to respond to life and Love with gratitude is powerful. It can actually RESET your nervous system, your body, and your life; especially if you practice it often.
Can you glimpse how amazing your design is?
Is that something you can be grateful for?
Giving thanks is a response to a gift. It’s an action of love directed at Love. And it feels so amazingly GOOD to love, so GOOD that it RESETs our bodies and even our lives.
It feels good to feel good. I’ve said that 1000 times. And now I’m telling you it also feels good to be thankful. And that is no accident.
Happy Thanksgiving my friends!
